Generation X Beginning to Take Greater Interest in Sports Cars

People born between the early to mid 1960s and the early 1980s are considered to be part of a group that’s been named Generation X. For many people, your parents may be part of this generation. With more and more of Gen X finding themselves with established careers at this point in their lives, they now have the financial capability to take a deeper interest in cars, particularly sports cars. While Generation X’s parents, many of whom are part of the baby boomer era, are fascinated with your more traditional muscle cars such as the Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro, Gen X is turning their attention towards Japanese sports cars.

Here are some sports cars that Generation X drivers may fancy:

  • 2014 Nissan 370Z NISMO – This Nissan sports car was previewed at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. It comes powered by a 3.7L V6 engine that delivers 350 hp and 276 lb-ft of torque with a six-speed manual transmission. It comes available in four different exterior colors: Pearl White, Magnetic Black, Gun Metallic, and Solid Red. Being 6.2 inches longer than the regular Nissan Z offers improved aerodynamic performance.
  • 2013 Subaru BRZ – If you’re looking for a car that offers speed and power, look no further than the Subaru BRZ. Not many people are familiar with this model, but they will be. The 2013 BRZ delivers 550 hp and 425 lb-ft of torque as it comes loaded with the BRZ-400 Turbo Kit. This vehicle has the ability to go from 0 to 60 mph in less than four seconds and is estimated to top out at 190 mph. The starting price is around $25,000.
  • 2013 Scion FR-S Coupe – With sharp handling and a stylish exterior, the Scion FR-S is one of the sportiest cars on the market. A 2.0L flat-4 engine that delivers 200 hp is paired with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission to power the FR-S. Drivers will love that this Scion model is easy to operate and offers comfortable and spacious front seats.
